Cloudy headlights are easy to put off when fixing them means driving to a shop, arranging a ride, and leaving the vehicle for an unknown amount of time. Mobile headlight restoration removes that inconvenience. The work is completed at your home or workplace while you continue with your day.
Here is what a typical appointment with Mid-TN Headlight Restoration looks like, from the first photo to the final inspection.
Start with clear photos of both headlights
Before scheduling, text us photos of both headlights along with the vehicle year, make, model, and your city. Photos help us judge whether the problem appears to be exterior oxidation or something inside the assembly.
Exterior yellowing and haze are often good candidates for restoration. Moisture inside the housing, deep cracking, damaged seals, and broken internal components may need a different repair. A photo review is not a perfect diagnosis, but it helps prevent wasted time for everyone.
Choose a suitable place for the appointment
We can work at a home or workplace as long as there is a safe, practical place beside the vehicle. A driveway or parking area with enough room around the front of the car is usually ideal.
Weather matters because the final protective finish needs suitable conditions. If rain, strong wind, or another environmental issue could affect the result, we may need a covered area or a different appointment time. We would rather reschedule than rush the protection step.
The vehicle is inspected before work begins
Once we arrive, we look closely at the lenses and confirm that restoration makes sense. This inspection helps identify oxidation, failed protection, scratches, old coatings, and damage that may limit the final result.
Good service includes an honest expectation. Most oxidized headlights improve dramatically, but exterior resurfacing cannot correct damage inside the assembly.
Paint and trim are carefully protected
Before sanding begins, the surrounding paint and trim are masked. Headlight restoration involves working close to finished body panels, so careful preparation is part of the job, not an optional detail.
This step also gives the technician room to address the full lens instead of avoiding the edges.
Oxidation is removed through multi-stage resurfacing
Cloudiness is not simply dirt sitting on top of the lens. The damaged outer layer must be removed evenly. We use a controlled, multi-stage wet resurfacing process based on the condition of the headlights.
The lens may look temporarily dull during this stage. That is normal. Each stage refines the surface left by the previous one until the damaged material has been removed and the plastic is ready for polishing.
The lenses are machine polished
Machine polishing refines the resurfaced plastic and brings back clarity. It also helps reveal whether any remaining marks are on the exterior or deeper inside the lens.
This is one reason quick household fixes are inconsistent. Toothpaste or a basic hand polish may clean mild haze, but it cannot reliably correct heavier oxidation or create an evenly prepared surface.
A professional UV-protective finish is applied
Freshly restored polycarbonate needs protection from sunlight and weather. We select the professional UV-protective finish best suited to the condition of the headlights.
Customers do not have to compare product names or guess which method their vehicle needs. The goal is the same: restore clarity and protect the corrected surface from premature oxidation.
Most appointments take about one hour
A typical appointment for both headlights is completed in about one hour. Heavy oxidation, failed coatings, or damage from a previous repair can add time. We will let you know if the condition of the lenses changes the expected schedule.
The complete mobile service is $120 for both headlights and includes a 1-year workmanship warranty.
After the restoration
We complete a final inspection and explain any immediate aftercare that applies to the protective finish. Going forward, gentle washing and avoiding abrasive cleaners will help preserve the restored surface. Parking under cover when practical can also reduce long-term sun exposure.
If the headlights become hazy prematurely because of an issue with our workmanship, the 1-year warranty applies according to our warranty terms.
